Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is an Indian conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The company operates in five major segments: exploration and production, refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and telecommunications. The profile offered was as Graduate Engineer Trainee.

Placement Procedure

Round 1 : Written Test : Aptitude + Technical

Written test consisted of  2 parts- an aptitude part with 30 questions of 2 marks each with no negative marks in 30 mins. They were MCQs including topics like verbal ability, rearranging sentences, quants etc. Time is the most important factor here. The questions were relatively easy. The second part is a technical exam of 50 questions for 30mins , 1 mark each no negatives, covering topics like electrical machines, power electronics, power system protection etc. The questions were reasonably tough and tested ones practical knowledge. There were no numerical.

Round 2 : Technical + HR Interview

Combined Questions were asked on major projects, internships done and we were asked to fill a form which included details like hobbies, strengths, short term and long term goals etc. Focus was on practical knowledge rather than on designing or theoretical knowledge. Some questions were:-

  • The cooling methods of induction motor when it runs at low rpm.
  • Explain your major project
  • Difference between vector control and scalar control of 3 phase induction motor.
  • Major companies manufacturing vector control drives in India
