To provide an opportunity to perform multi-channel radar experiments. Designing and operation of airborne SAR “Compact” in L and VHF band. Both channels were mounted on board of Mi-8 helicopter without the need of platform modification. The comparative analysis of backscattering properties for some natural surfaces was performed using generated SAR images. The joint use of VHF and L band seems to be an interesting instrument in SAR image analysis.Use of multi-channel synthetic aperture radar to estimate the distribution of forest biomass has been explained. Finally autonomous deployment of this multi-channel radar using UAVSAR program was understood.
